FBI Background Check: Fingerprinting Instructions

Step 1: Register Online

  1. On the homepage, look for "Enter your Service Code to get started"

  2. Enter the employee service code: [SERVICE CODE]

  3. Click "Schedule or Manage Appointment" and complete the registration form

Step 2: Provide Employer Information

When prompted for your employer details, enter:

  • Organization: [ORGANIZATION NAME]

  • Address: [FULL ADDRESS WITH ZIP CODE]

Important: Ensure all information matches your valid photo ID exactly.

Step 3: Set Up Account Security

During registration, you'll need to provide:

  • A valid email address

  • Security question and answer

โš ๏ธ Critical: Write down and remember your security question and answer. You have 3 login attempts - if unsuccessful, they'll mail results which can take weeks and delay your start date.

Step 4: Schedule Your Appointment

After completing the form:

  1. Enter your zip code to see available locations

  2. You can also find locations at: https://www.identogo.com/locations

  3. Select a location showing "Identogo - State Agency Employment"

Walk-in Tip: If scheduling a walk-in appointment, check the "Walk In" box on the final page instead of selecting a specific time. Then arrive during any walk-in hours when they have availability.

Step 5: Prepare for Your Appointment

What to Bring:

  • Valid photo ID (required)

  • 16-digit authorization code (provided by [ORGANIZATION NAME])

What to Expect:

  • Fingerprinting takes only a few minutes

  • Results typically arrive within one week
