Why Do I Need to Upload a Headshot?

Why your organization asks for a headshot, and how to upload one that passes the photo check.

Why am I being asked for a headshot?

Your organization has enabled the Ankored Sex Offender Registry Monitor. This service regularly checks members against public sex offender registries to help keep athletes and participants safe.

Sometimes a registry record shares a name with a member, even though it's a different person. To properly review these potential matches, your organization's administrators need a photo to compare. That's why you're required to upload a headshot.

Being asked for a headshot does not mean you've been flagged. Your organization assigns this requirement to everyone in your role.

How to upload your headshot

  1. Log in to Ankored at https://app.ankored.com/.

  2. On your dashboard, open the Profile Headshot requirement.

  3. Upload a photo of yourself.

  4. Ankored checks the photo right away. If it passes, the requirement changes to Completed. If not, you'll see a message explaining what to fix so you can try again.

Completing this for your child? Log in to your parent or guardian account and complete the headshot from your child's profile, using a photo of your child.

Tips for a photo that passes

  • Only one person in the photo

  • Face the camera directly

  • Nothing covering your face: no sunglasses, masks, or hats pulled low

  • Good, even lighting and a photo that's in focus

  • A real photo of you, not a logo, avatar, or drawing

Your photo may be rejected if Ankored can't find a face, finds more than one face, or the face is covered, turned away, or blurry.

Frequently Asked Questions

I already have a profile picture. Why do I need to upload another one?
Your profile picture hasn't been checked to confirm it shows a clear face, so it can't be used for this requirement. Uploading a headshot won't change your profile picture.

Who can see my headshot?
Your organization's administrators use it when reviewing potential matches from the registry monitor.

Does Ankored use facial recognition on my photo?
No. Ankored only checks that the photo shows one clear face. It does not compare your photo to registry photos or identify you. A person on your organization's staff reviews any potential match.

What happens to my headshot if I leave the organization?
Your headshot is deleted when you are removed from the organization.

My photo keeps getting rejected, but it's a clear photo of me. What should I do?
Some photos may not pass the check, for example if you wear a religious head covering. Contact your organization's administrator. They can mark the requirement complete for you.
